Winter 2017 Meeting

The Winter 2017 meeting of Republican State Committee was held this past weekend at the Hershey Lodge.  On Friday afternoon, a session was held reviewing the results of the 2016 elections and how we were able to deliver Pennsylvania for President Donald Trump.  Following that was speeches and a panel discussion with all of our candidates for state-wide judicial office.  The keynote speaker at Friday evening's dinner was State Senator Scott Wagner, who is a candidate for Governor.

Saturday morning began with a Southwest Caucus breakfast meeting which included an update from Speaker Mike Turzai.  Following the caucus breakfast, the regular meeting began.  Out of the 349 members of Republican State Committee, 284 were present in person, 61 sent proxies, and 4 were absent.

The first item for voting was to elect a new Chairman for the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.  After a roll call vote, Val DiGiorgio defeated Lawrence Tabas by a very close margin of 173 to 171.  Other officers who were elected unopposed included:
Vice Chair: Bernadette Comfort, Lehigh County
Treasurer: D Raja, Allegheny County
Secretary: Andy Reilly, Delaware County
Assistant Secretary: Peg Ferraro, Northampton County

Following the election of the new officers, a vote was held on whether or not to endorse candidates for state-wide judicial office.  The vote passed, and the following candidates were nominated:

Sallie Mundy

Emil Giordano
Wade Kagarise
Paula Patrick
Craig Stedman

Christine Cannon
Paul Lalley

We look forward to helping elect this excellent judicial slate later this year!
